DWI Court: Increasing Public Safety, Saving Lives
Posted on Jun 23, 2016 in Featured NewsOn June 23, 2016, the Honolulu DWI (Driving While Impaired) Court held a graduation ceremony to acknowledge the hard work, commitment, and success of its latest graduates.
Since its founding in 2013, thirty individuals have completed the intensive program.
“A lot of us attorneys volunteer our time because we believe in the DWI Court Program. Participants hate it at first. It’s not an easy process, but every one of my clients who have graduated say it changed them, and not one has re-offended,” said Honolulu criminal defense attorney Jonathan Burge.
By providing participants with support, court monitoring, and treatment services that aid in addiction recovery, the DWI Court is able to reduce recidivism and increase public safety.
